Sistema Waikato is a highly successful, community-based social development programme, which uses orchestral music making as a model for enhancing social aspiration and building life skills in young
children and their families. It is a free, open and accessible programme, eligible for all children from our partner schools.

Based on the El Sistema model created in Venezuela over 40 years ago, Sistema Waikato aims to increase student wellbeing, develop musicality, and strengthen youth leadership and community connectedness.
Currently there are more than 130 children aged between 5 and 11 years old enrolled in our programme, partaking in violin, cello, flute, choir, percussion, musicianship and orchestra lessons.
